Lightroom CC stores all uploaded photos and raw files on a cloud server, while Lightroom Classic CC stores files locally and has a more comprehensive set of features. While similar in some ways, all three Lightroom variations have significant differences in how they store images and interact with Adobe's cloud storage offering and in feature parity. The existing version of Lightroom was renamed Lightroom Classic CC, and Lightroom Mobile was renamed to Lightroom CC to have the same name as this new desktop version. LrC is version 11 now which got an excellent masking upgrade. Some older versions of Mac OS are not compatible but you have the latest Windows. Start off with LrC so things are familiar.Īlso you will get the latest version of LrC and your should always update to get all the new features - unless your OS is outdated. It is not recommended to install both LrC and Lr on the desktop but people have found workarounds. I never installed it because I don't have a need for it. It sends your files to the cloud automatically. Lr is the new cloud app introduced about 6 years ago. As people mentioned LrC is the LR% replacement which like your LR5 and requires local file storage. Portfolio is integrated with LrC and probably Lr as well.Īs you can see in the attached file there is LrC and Lr. I think there are about 14 apps available including Portfolio which is a personal website. You can install all or one of them and they install on your desktop. CC is the ecosystem (it's what Adobe calls it) where all the apps are located.
